Catherine Huggins is Executive Vice President of Huggins Consulting Group, a collaboration of marketing, public relations, and business leadership professionals with the single mission of delivering solutions for specific business and communication needs.
Please tell us about your background.
I was born and raised in Michigan and grew up in the small town of Coldwater. Actively involved in sports, I lettered in varsity basketball, track, and golf during high school. I was later inducted into the Coldwater High School Hall of Fame as a top athlete.
My postsecondary journey led me to Drake University, where I earned a bachelor of arts degree in public relations. Later I achieved a master of business administration degree from the University of Iowa.
Please tell us about your business.
At Huggins Consulting Group, our top priority is to support clients in achieving their business objectives. Our team has proven expertise in each of the core marketing disciplines: advertising, strategic communications, digital, and so on. Yet we prefer not to think of ourselves as creative gurus or media experts or public relations specialists. We simply see ourselves as problem solvers.
Everything we do is grounded in the fundamental need to establish, build, and enhance relationships with select consumers and their key influencers. As marketers, our role is to help clients understand the wants and needs of their targeted audiences and establish an ongoing dialogue with these important individuals through the most effective and efficient communication channels.
Why did you join NAWBO Iowa, and what do you appreciate about it?
NAWBO is an extremely vibrant organization. Being a member is an incredible experience. I've met outstanding leaders who are wise and giving women. Having the depth and breadth of professionals within NAWBO who truly care about one another is what makes this organization special. I appreciate each and every member of NAWBO!
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Having the chance to make a positive difference in others' lives, our communities, and our society as a whole. I think effective communications is the basis for achieving strong relationships, building success, and establishing a worthy legacy.
What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
Being able to move beyond the pandemic limitations tied to travel. I love visiting family and friends, many of whom (unfortunately) live outside the great state of Iowa. So 2022 is the year of reconnecting with them in person!
