Tell me about your background.
I was born and raised in Denison, Iowa. I grew up walking beans, detasseling corn and helping my dad as he raised livestock. This instilled a good work ethic, an appreciation of the value of a dollar and respect for people’s hard-earned money.
I got my degree in Finance with an Emphasis in Real Estate at the University of Northern Iowa. I spent the first fourteen years of my career in mortgage origination and lending.
I grew to love building relationships with my clients, and I wanted an opportunity to build something that lasted longer than the typical one transaction. So, I shifted my focus to financial advising.
I now live with my family in St. Charles, Iowa where I serve on our local Park Committee.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always knew I wanted something “business.” I always saw myself in an office and loved numbers.
I made my first investment when I was 16. My dad had always done his own investing and trading, and he recommended I invest the money I had saved up walking beans and detasseling corn. The investment did very well, and it helped pay for part of my college.
When I went off to college I initially wanted to be a Realtor, but life took me down the mortgage lending path. I think it was a good fit for me, and it led me to where I am today.
What is the last thing that amazed you or changed your perspective?
Jesus changes my perspective every day. Having flown recently, looking out over creation never ceases to amaze me!
As a member of NAWBO Iowa, she acts in a completely separate role from her position as a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors.
