    NAWBO Iowa celebrated the success of three women at the recent awards luncheon. This is Iowa's only awards program dedicated to women business owners. 

    The event honored Mary Andringa, Chair of the Board at Vermeer Corporation. Mary received NAWBO Iowa’s Hall of Fame Legacy Award. In her current leadership role she continues the legacy of the firm founded by her father that now has facilities in Latin America, Asia Pacific, China, Europe and the U.S. 

    Also honored were Christina Moffatt, NAWBO Iowa Woman Business Owner of the Year and T. Waldmann-Williams, Ph.D., NAWBO Iowa Advocate of the Year. These awards honor their achievements and contributions supporting and advocating for women business owners.

    The U.S. SBA Iowa Top Lender Award was presented to Bob Weiss, regional president for U.S. Bank, by Jayne Armstrong (right), U.S. SBA Iowa District director, and Becky Greenwald, regional advocate for the U.S. SBA.

    At NAWBO Iowa’s “Celebration of Excellence,” U.S. Bank was recognized as the 2015 U.S. Small Business Administration Iowa Top Lender to Women-Owned Small Business. The award was presented to Bob Weiss, regional president for U.S. Bank, by Jayne Armstrong (right), U.S. SBA Iowa District director, and Becky Greenwald, regional advocate for the U.S. SBA.

    The U.S. Small Business Administration guaranteed 444 loans worth $134.9 million to small businesses in Iowa for the fiscal year 2015. Ninety-three of these loans, worth $22 million, went to women-owned small businesses. U.S. Bank approved 13 loans to women worth $267,000. New and existing businesses received these loans included veterinary services, restaurants, day care services, law offices and beauty salons. U.S. Bank also was SBA’s top lender overall, guaranteeing 57 total loans worth $3.4 million in Iowa.
