Kris Howard is the owner of KSH Design Studio, LLC, an online custom apparel and merchandise design company based in Des Moines.

Please tell us about your background.

I am a native of Iowa, born and raised in Des Moines. When I got married, we moved to Urbandale and never left. :)

Please tell us about your business.

I started KSH Design Studio about seven years ago as a personalization and custom gift B2C company. I had been creating items for family and friends for years and decided to make it a business. I have grown to serve small businesses with branded apparel and logos, as well as gift items. I offer embroidery, heat printing, and laser-engraved items. I have a quick turnaround with no minimums. Customer service is paramount!

Why did you join NAWBO Iowa and what do you appreciate about it?

I joined NAWBO to build relationships with other women business owners. Many of the women have been in business for many years and are willing to share their expertise. It's great to be able to bounce ideas and issues off others who have more experience than you. We share our experiences with one another.

What does NAWBO mean to you?

I feel strongly that with the relationships I've built with NAWBO members, I am where I am today in my business venture. The members have offered their time and expertise, and the organization's educational programming has also helped me grow as a business owner.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

My business has provided me with the flexibility I need in my life. I enjoy providing a service that helps small businesses with apparel items and helps with their marketing to grow their businesses, which means a lot to me. I also enjoy helping larger companies with personalized orders. 

What are you most looking forward to in 2024?

Continue to grow the business through building relationships.
